Stone Edge:
Laurence Towneley, offspring of Towneleys of Barnside (who were offspring of main Burnley families) living 1563 died 1597/8.

Laurence Towneley, son of above, married Margaret Hartley, daughter of John Hartley of Stone Edge giving him Manor of Stone edge. Laurence died 1654/5.

Richard Towneley, 1682 – 1726, son of above, moved to Malkin Tower and White Moor.

PRO Records:

1805 Robert Hargreaves of Stone Edge, gent, sells one-third of his holding in Colne Mill to John Phillips, corn dealer.

Stone Edge:

1538 Laurence Wilson, John Smythe and Christopher Robinson divide the Whittycroft and Stone Edge estates between them. There is a dispute with neighbours over blockage of the road from Barrowford, over Stone Edge Head, to Blackow Hill.

1564 Henry Bannister surrendered a messuage and croft tenanted by William Redyhalgh called New Booth, New ground, Instone Edge and Grote Stony Edge to Alexander Rushworth and others.

Great StoneEdge Estate:

Plot of land from Gt SE estate sold in 1890 to build number 2-12 Gisburn Road. 1892 five houses were built as Stone Edge View. Part of estate was known as Towneley Holme.

Little Stone Edge Estate:

Sold land to erect houses and a shop in 1880 – part of estate was known as Royds Croft

Great, East and Little Stone Edge Farms:

James Hartley was ordered to make a sufficient way for fetching and carrying as far as Foote Dole Land. The doors on the North side of the house built on land at Stony Edge, occupied by Hugh Wilkinson, Agnes Dawtrie and others, belonging to Henry Bannister, Gentleman, to be closed up to stop the trespass on said land.

Henry Bannister, Gentleman, by a tenant, surrendeed a messuage etc. in Higher Barrowforth viz. A messuage in the holding of William Redyhalgh, a close called New Booth, New Ground, in Stoni Edge, and a Barn between them and another called Great Stony Edge to use of Alexander Rushworth and others to be feiffes to the use of said Henry Bannister, and Agnes, his wife, and heirs.

Mr.Christopher Shackleton of Stoe Edge, Woolstapler, purchased from John Cockshutt, late of Langroyd but now of Downham, Gentleman, and Ann ,his wife, for £167 all that messuage, dwelling house and 2 parcels of land and also that other messuage or dwelling house near and adjoining to a place called Park Hill above the water which is now or was lately occupied as 2 or 3 dwellings and 1 stable belonging (formerly a shop) at Barrowford and now in several tenures of James Holt, Widow Holt and . Crabtree as tenants or formerly and called Bridge End Houses. (The 1803 Barrowford Survey calls the George and Dragon Bridge End).

Marriage settlement of Richard Towneley of Stone Edge, Gentleman, and Mary Hartley, daughter of Roger Hartley of Foulridge, Clothier, desires to his feoffes Ambrose Barcroft of Foulridge Hall, Gentleman and Roger Hartley of Foulridge, Clothier, in trust for himself that one Mansion House called Stone edge, 1 Barn, other buildings, 2 gardens, the fields and closes belonging viz.
The Moss – Croft at Barn End – Croft Under Ashes – Well Field – The Meadow – Isabell Croft – Spout Head – The Sugar (?) – Hey Hill – Holme – Beyond the water – Holme on this side of water – Scarr Bank – Low Most Ley Field – Middle Most Ley field – Highermost Ley Field – rent to the Lords of the Forest 13/4.

1803 Barrowford Survey:

Little Stone Edge
owned by Lawrence Shaw, occupied by James Hopwood. Land is:
Hazel Mould Field – Moss Field – Furhter Meadow – Field at Laithe End – Gregson Field – Nearer Field – Field at House – Long Field – Wood Bottom – Well Hole Field – Royds Croft – Field Below well Hole – Occupation Road – Fold – Garden etc – 14 acres 3 rods 6 perches. Farm House rateable at 17s 6p, Barn and outbuildings at 14s, farm total £11/5s less 15s for making the road.

Great Stone Edge owned by Lawrence Shaw, occupied by Henry Frankland. Land is:
Old Moss Field – Tenter Croft – Lays Field – Little Moss Field – Back Meadow – Well Field (Stone Edge View now built on this) – Kiln Field and Pump Garth – Great Meadow- Isabell field – Long Lands and Spout Field – Towneley Holme – Scar Bank – Fold – Garden etc. 30 acres 1 rod 25 perches. Buildings rated at: farm House £1/6s – Barn and Outbuildings £1/5s – Cottage occupied by James Foulds 9s4p – Total rateable value of farm £27/15s less 15s for making the road.

1903 land sales:
A lease of 999 years, in 1890, was made on a plot of land 1,345 square yards – this was part of the Great Stone edge Estate and purchased from Miss Alice Hartley, of Burnley, for £250. The land was used to build nimbers 2 to 12 Gisburn Road, Blacko.

Two productive gardens and nurseries of copyhold tenure at Blacko known as Towneley Holme and Royds Croft – part of the Great and Little Stone Edge estates making together 1acre 2rods 36perches. In the occupation of Jonathan Sharp – sale withdrawn having reached £225. This could very well have been land once attached to Hollin Hall as Henry and Thomas Grimshaw were Market Gardners at Hollin in 1881.

A garden at Blacko on Gisburn Road at 175 feet road frontage, 3,742 square yards, occupied by Baldwin Sutcliffe. Plot adjoining this at 2,005 square yards occupied by Hartley Broughton – both plots purchased by Hartley Broughton for £400.

East Stone edge: 1803 Barrowford Survey:
Owned and occupied by Captain Hargreaves. The land is: Stone Edge Field and Occupation Road Therein - Lower Field and Occ Rd - Tenter Field – Further Field and Occ Rd – Little Field – Rough Field – Further Meadow – Middle Meadow – Nearer Meadow – Fold – Gardens etc 18acres 1rod 2perches: Buildings: Manor House rated £3/3/0 – Barn and Outbuildings £1/6/0 : Cottage and Loomshop £1/8/0: Total property rates £21/15/0 less £2/5/0 for making road
